Numurkah Leader
Warriors harvest the combine

THE  GM1 Numurkah Warriors just keep on knocking down whatever opposition is put before them and they did so yet again on Saturday, defeating the combined Echuca/Rochester tennis side, 9/75 to 1/39.

The Warriors’ only blemish for the day came when the big serving Grant Chappell went down to the combine’s Edmund Bush 8-3, but apart from that it was all one way traffic.

Helene Steward, Nick Fenaughty, Harley McCarthy and Lisa Niglia all recorded three set wins for the day in another polished display from the defending champions and, even at this early stage of the season, the signs are ominous for the other teams in the competition.

With the inclusion of Lisa and Aaron Niglia, as well as Harley McCarthy and Grant Chappell bolstering the Warriors’ already strong line up, it is hard to see where their main challenger for the title will come from.

However it is still early days and a lot can happen over the course of a season.

This week they are back on the road to play the Rich River Rebels and, based on their recent form, it would be a very brave soul to bet against the Warriors stringing together their fourth on end.
