Lions new and old keeping their distance ... New Numurkah Lions members and their nominees, from left: Chris Boyden, Keith Nicoll, Sue McCracken, Jack Fischer, Harry Fischer, Mark Nordbye, district governor Omen Ndlovu, David Morris, Elsie Sparrowhawk and Lea Tyndall.
THE recent introduction of new social distancing regulations has thrown us all for a bit of a loop, and put the kibosh on planned gatherings of all sorts.
Numurkah Lions Club had made arrangements for district governor, Omen Ndlovu to attend a Numurkah Lions meeting on Monday, but then the new regulations saw the cancellation of all club meetings.
Not wanting to make the new members - who were chomping at the bit to officially be declared Lions - wait, the club got creative and organised a meeting that is believed to have created international Lions history.
The unique induction was held outdoors, at the Lions Park by the Broken Creek on Monday evening, with all present observing social distancing recommendations as Lea Tyndall, Sue McCracken, David Morris, Chris Boyden and Harry Fischer were welcomed into the pride.
