THE Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed this morning that there are now three  confirmed COVID-19 cases in Moira Shire.

Mirroring the situation of the first confirmed case, as reported in this week’s Leader, the second case was confirmed at Yarrawonga Health in a person who had recently returned from overseas and was following mandatory isolation requirements as per government regulation when they developed symptoms of COVID-19.

The individual made contact with Yarrawonga Health by phone first, followed by presentation to the health service.

Yarrawonga Health said infection control procedures were implemented immediately and the process ran smoothly with the patient well enough to return home following assessment until test results were received.

The person has remained at home, is recovering and will continue with self-isolation.

No further details are currently available regarding the third case, although the Leader is given to understand that they are a resident of Moira Shire.
